Personalisation & individual budgets
From 10 April 2010 new laws will be introduced that give you the freedom and choice to decide what type of care and support you need - and choose the people who you want to help support you.
These new personalisation regulations allow you to approach your local Social Services department, undergo an assessment and discuss with them your precise needs. If they agree you need this support they will give you an individual budget paid into your bank account. Then you can decide who you want to help you and pay them direct for the flexible, bespoke support you really need.
This is a big change to the way people buy the support the need. Now you have real choice about who supports you, when, where and how. If you’re unhappy or don’t like the support you are receiving now, if it doesn’t meet your needs – now you can change to another provider.
